A weekend single vehicle crash in Greene County results in injuries.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy, Greene County Ambulance and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded to the incident in the 1900 block of 230th Street at 2:27am Saturday. Seventeen-year-old Emma Nelson of Emmetsburg was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla when she failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection of T Avenue and 230th Street. The vehicle crossed the roadway and entered a ditch, where it struck a utility pole and rolled onto its top. 

Nelson suffered minor injuries, while her two passengers had severe injuries and were taken to Greene County Medical Center. The Sheriff’s Office report shows all three individuals were allegedly consuming alcohol underage. The investigation is ongoing, but the driver will be charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to maintain control.
