Last week the Paton-Churdan School District entered what is becoming unprecedented times. 

Superintendent Kreg Lensch shares his opinion of how the pandemic has impacted the start of the school year.

“Well I know I don’t like it better because you’re really changing a lot of the things where you’re trying to build family (environment), you’re trying to build connectedness and build relationships. And now you’re really – through your mitigations – separating kids and separating adults. So that part of it is difficult.”

Despite how COVID-19 has forced education to make changes in how instruction is delivered, Lensch believes that once the pandemic begins to subside, they can look back on the positives that education is undergoing.

“How we can reach more kids, how we can advance and take advantage of electronic learning, (and) how we look at instruction. That’ll be interesting when we get through (this) to see some of the other changes and maybe know that it doesn’t always have to be done in a traditional manner, and we can educate kids and meet them where they’re at.”

Lensch appreciates everyone’s patience and willingness to work together during the school year to give kids the best educational opportunities. As of Friday morning, there were no positive COVID-19 cases reported in the school district.
