The Dallas County Board of Supervisors heard the latest reports regarding the County’s storm damage during their regular meeting Tuesday.
Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator AJ Seely updated the Supervisors on county-wide efforts to aid communities affected by the derecho storm that occurred August 10th. Seely reported that as of Tuesday around 500 people in the County were still without power. County Engineer Al Miller reported that he was pleased with how quickly the Secondary Roads Department were able to clear county roads of debris following the storm.
Additionally, Miller presented bids for an overhaul of one of the County’s motor graders. Miller informed the Supervisors the machine has reached 10,000 miles and an overhaul could extend the life of the machine by another 10 years. A $164,000 bid from Brown’s Heavy Equipment was unanimously approved. The Supervisors also approved a pair of change orders regarding the courthouse courtroom improvement project.
