The Perry City Council discussed the City’s damage following last weeks severe weather.

The meeting began as City Administrator Sven Peterson gave the Council the latest information when it came to cleanup efforts. Peterson said they’re currently looking at renting a residential garbage truck after the City’s was damaged in a wreck August 10th. Peterson confirmed the driver of the vehicle is okay following the wreck. Peterson also said he heard from Alliant energy that 98% of Perry customers have had their power restored as of Monday.

The Council also heard an update from Library Director Mary Murphy as she presented the library’s annual update. The Council also held two public hearings. The first was for notice and intent to dispose of public property that includes lot five of the bluejay addition. The next public hearing about a vacation of a portion of public right of way on the southern end of 3rd Street north of Highway 141.

The next City Council meeting will be Tuesday September 8th, moving one day from the regular time due to Labor Day.
