Thursday, August 13th

3:14am: An officer removed two bats from the residence at 501 South Vine Street.

10:22am: Abby Hamilton advised a tree was about to fall and block the street in the 400 Block of East Monroe Street. Public Works went to check on the tree.

12:46pm: Fareway reported the Theft of Vodka from 1207 North Elm Street. The officer reviewed video and identified the female. Charges are pending.

2:10pm: The Boone County Sheriff’s Office requested Jefferson officers to attempt to locate a jeep that had been involved in a Hit & Run Accident in Boone County. It was last known west bound on 220th Street from Boone. The officers did not see the reported vehicle in Jefferson.

3:48pm: Oly’s Corner reported a male had just attempted to use a Counterfeit $100.00 Bill to purchase fuel and items at the business. The officer recognized the bill as Movie Prop Money and seized it for Evidence. The officer is investigating.

7:39pm: Tanya Turner reported her son had been bitten by a dog as he walked near Head and Walnut Streets. He was petting the animal when it bit his nose and thigh. This had occurred earlier in the day. Officers are working to locate and identify the animal involved.

8:06pm: Thomas Oyres reported someone knocking on his door at 1216 Westwood Drive #9. Thomas believed the male subject was there to harm him. The officer did not locate anyone in the area.

10:38pm: Jan Black advised her daughter had received a “Send Help” text message from Thomas Oyres at 1216 Westwood Drive #9. The officer went to the address and spoke to Oyres. Oyres was afraid to stay in the apartment, so the officer worked to locate a family member he could stay overnight with. After the attempts failed, Oyres advised he wished to go back to his apartment.

11:37pm: Lisa Larson advised she had received an “SOS” text message from her daughter at 505 North Olive Street. The officer made contact with the female, who was fine. She was attempting to shut her phone down and the messages were sent out by accident.
