The Perry Farmers Market looked a bit different compared to the weeks prior, but still received positive reviews.
Due to damage in downtown Perry caused by Monday’s severe weather, the weekly farmers market switched into a “mini-market.” Vendors were set up in Josh Davis Plaza instead of 2nd Street between Willis Avenue and Warford, where they usually set up. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio while the event was a bit smaller than usual, it was still beneficial, “Ultimately the decision was made to host some sort of farmers market knowing that there are a lot of folks in our communities that rely on the market for an outlet to use their senior and WIC vouchers as a way to pay for produce. The food supply chain is important to maintain, especially during a time of crisis. So the farmers market, we feel is not the only outlet for folks, but we know how important it is for both the shoppers and the vendors to have that outlet.”
Pasutti also wanted to extend her thanks on behalf of the Chamber for all those giving their time and resources to cleaning up the City after the storm.
