Greene County started the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference dual meet wrestling season with a 38-36 victory over Roland-Story (Story City) in the middle school gym in Jefferson on Thursday night. The match was broadcast on KG98 and the Rams were able to overcome four forfeits while collecting just one forfeit from the Norsemen.
Of the nine matches that were wrestled, the Rams won seven including the marque match at 126 lbs. Senior Dylan Forkner made a first period takedown stand up for a 2-0 win over Class 2A sixth ranked Parker Witthuhn. Forkner his now 7-1 while Witthuhn fell to 4-1 this season. Freshman Isaiah Yoder won for just the second time in eight matches when he topped R-S senior Noah Bartmess 10-3 for the victory at 160 lbs. Jacob Challen at 120 won by fall in 3:44, with Jordan Challen winning by fall in 1:17 at 132 lbs. Tommy Bradshaw is 8-0 at 145 lbs. after also winning by fall in 1;17. Jeremy Scheuermann improved to 8-0 at 152 with a 9-1 major decision. Abe Yoder was a 13-0 major decision winner at 138.
