The West Central Valley Wildcats football team will be having a different looking season for the 2020 year, as the state of Iowa announced on Friday a change to the football season. As of right now, there will be two non-conference games taken out of the regular season for the Wildcats. District play will now start on week 3 and go all the way through week 7. Class 1A teams will all qualify for the postseason which will start on October 16th.
West Central Valley was originally slated to play Nodaway Valley, Eagle Grove, Madrid, and Saydel in their non conference portion of their schedule, with three of those games at home. The Wildcats district is one of the toughest in the state in Kuemper Catholic, Van Meter, Panorama, Woodward-Granger, and ACGC.
The Wildcats will be going through a lot of adversity with the schedule change and a young team as well. First year head coach Jim Lindsay will have a lot on his plate as he looks to get his prepared for a unique 202o season.
