
Friday, July 17th
12:06am: Chris Showman called and reported a group of juveniles walking through yards near 206 East Park Street. The officers did not locate anyone in the area.
2:10am: An officer located an Open Door at 1700 North Elm Street and secured the business.
2:37am: During patrol, an officer spotted a golf cart traveling south on North Mulberry Street. The officer saw several juveniles on the cart and attempted to stop them. The juveniles fled to the east on Central Ave and eventually fled into a corn field. Officers captured two juveniles and learned the cart was stolen from the 900 Block of West Harrison Street. In speaking with the juveniles they caught, the officers were given the names of two others involved. The officer sent charges to the juvenile court for (2) 15-year0old males for, Trespass – Simple, Theft 3rd Degree – Aggravated, Interference with Official Acts – Simple, and Curfew Violation – Simple.” One was cited for, “Minor Using Tobacco.” Charges are pending for the other two juveniles involved and the investigation continues.
4:04am: Janet Bass reported two males walking around her apartment and banging on her door at 1216 Westwood Drive. The officers did not locate anyone in the area.
8:34am: Jan Ober reported a subject following her in a vehicle and taking photos of her as she walked in the 1300 Block of West Lincoln Way Street. The officers did not locate the reported vehicle, but are investigating as the complainant provided a plate information for the vehicle.
10:09am: A caller advised a car had been parked, blocking the alley overnight in the 300 Block of East State Street. The officer towed the vehicle to Impound Lot.
11:15am: An officer provided a Funeral Escort.
1:19pm: An officer witnessed a male storm into the business at 216 East State Street and scream at the business owner. The officer advised the subject to leave and the owner advised him he is no longer welcome at the business.
3:42pm: Brock Stoner reported Unwanted Contact from an ex-girlfriend. He had advised her to end the contact, but it continues. The officer advised the female to end all contact, or face Harassment Charges.
6:01pm: Stephanie Coil reported finding damage to her 2019 Kia Optima. An unknown vehicle had struck the vehicle causing minor damages. It is unknown where the accident occurred.
9:22pm: The Wild Rose Casino requested an officer for a female patron who was refusing to leave. The officer arrived and learned the female had signed paperwork in 2005 banning her from Iowa casinos. She left the casino on her own free will after speaking to the officer.
11:23pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1500 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Samantha Peel of Jefferson being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
Saturday, July 18th
11:13am: Amelia Kennedy reported two dogs running loose in the 300 Block of East State Street. The officer returned the animals to the fenced yard and saw the gate had been left open. The officer issued a Verbal Warning to the owner.
4:54pm: Cassidy Simpson reported receiving a package from a subject in Wisconsin containing food stamp cards. The officer took possession of the mail and is working to get it back to the sender.
6:03pm: A caller advised of subjects attempting to gain entry to the residence at 504 South Walnut. The officer learned the subjects are staying there and have permission to enter the property.
6:56pm: As a deputy was heading to an emergent call, he witnessed the vehicle behind his leaving the roadway and driving erratically. He radioed a Jefferson officer and advised him of the issue. The officer spotted the reported vehicle and began to follow it to the east on 220 th Street. The officer witnessed the vehicle leaving the roadway and having issues maintaining his lane. The officer attempted a Traffic Stop and the vehicle refused to pull over and reached speeds of 95 mph while traveling eastbound. The vehicle pulled over on 220th Street, west of Pioneer Ave. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Austin Michael Laverne Lindahl, 19 of Boone for, “OWI 1 st – Serious, Reckless Driving – Simple, Excessive Speed – Simple, and Possession of Alcohol Under legal Age – Simple.”
8:37pm: While on patrol, officers witnessed a male striking an object with a baseball bat in Chautauqua Park in the 700 Block of South Maple Street. The officers spoke to the male and learned he was hitting a Pinata and had not damaged city property.
11:15pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th at M Ave. resulted in Nate McBride of Boone being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
Sunday, July 19th
12:07am: A deputy requested assistance from an officer in releasing property to a female from a vehicle in Impound.
12:16am: A caller advised of a male and female arguing outside the laundromat at 404 North Elm Street. The caller advised the male had thrown a shopping cart during the event. Officers made contact with the couple, who denied the event. The business owner was contacted, and the couple was advised they are no longer welcome on the property.
12:47am: An officer performed a Traffic Stop on Hwy. 4, just north of 220th Street after witnessing the vehicle fail to stop at the posted stop sign. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Gretta Darlene Halterman, 19 of Jefferson for, “OWI 1st Offense – Serious, Fail to Obey a Stop Sign – Simple, and Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Simple.” The officer will be adding, “Possession of Alcohol Under legal Age – Simple.”
2:46am: Heather Dobney reported subjects arguing in the 500 Block of West Harrison Street. The officers did not locate anyone out in the area.
8:26am: A caller advised of a Suspicious Vehicle parked in the 300 Block of North Oak Street. The officer did not find any ordinance violations and could not determine the owner. If the vehicle remains over 48 hours, the officer will tow it to Impound.
6:24pm: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in the 300 Block of North High Street. A 2007 Ford F- 150, owned and operated by Jaxon Warnke of Scranton was backing from a private driveway and backed into a vehicle parked on the street. The 2015 Chrysler 200 was owned by John Sturgeon and received no damage. The Warnke vehicle had a reported $1000.00 in damages. Warnke was cited for, “Unsafe Backing.”
7:27pm: James Ford reported the Theft of his 2000 Chevrolet truck from 701 North Wilson Ave. The vehicle contained $1000.00 worth of mechanic’s tools. The vehicle was seen by the owner parked a ½ hour prior to it being gone. The vehicle has been entered a Stolen in the NCIC System.
Monday, July 20th
12:12am: An officer assisted a deputy with a Traffic Stop on 220th Street, just east of Jefferson.
9:07am: Connie Ross reported an injured bird in her yard at 615 South Olive Street. A conservation employee was on-scene when the officer arrived and handled the bird.
10:51am: Shayne Pegg reported the Can Redemption Center at 222 East Lincoln Way was only paying $.04 per can, instead of the full $.05 redemption. The officer advised them they can take the cans somewhere else and do not have to agree to the $.04 per can if they choose not to.
10:55am: Nicole Silbaugh reported a couple walking and arguing in the 300 Block of South Wilson Ave. The officers did not locate the reported subjects in the area.
11:13am: Wendy Kozal reported a large Mastiff running loose near the Cedar Street RR Crossing. The officer could not get close to the animal as it runs away. The department has had several issues with the animal and is trying to figure out the owner of the dog.
11:50am: Dustin Evans reported a cable across the roadway near Mahlon and High Streets. Jefferson Telecom was contacted to correct the issue.
12:52pm: Emily Hayes reported an Assault, which had occurred two weeks earlier at 604 North Chestnut Street. The officer is investigating.
1:31pm: A caller advised of the odor of burning marijuana in the hallway at 305 North Wilson Ave. The officer was unable to find the source of the smell.
1:40pm: Wendy Smits reported a subject living at her residence at 604 North Chestnut Street had slammed a door and broken a window. The officer determined her intent was not to damage the window and no charges will be pursued in the matter.
2:32pm: The GCMC ER requested officers at 1000 West Lincoln Way to assist with a court ordered male, who was leaving the facility against the order. The officers located the subject and returned him to ER.
2:38pm: Hilda Ratliff requested officers at 305 West South Street for an argument between her adult daughter and a boyfriend, who are staying at the residence. Ratliff advised the male was no longer welcome at the residence. The officer determined nothing physical had occurred and advised the male to leave, which he did.
3:45pm: Katie Ratliff spoke to an officer about a Civil Issue occurring with a vehicle.
4:30pm: Ariel Mills spoke to an officer about documenting Unwanted Contact from a male. The officer documented the report.
5:50pm: Officers were called back to ER to assist again with the unruly patient from an earlier entry. The officers assisted in calming the patient down for the ER Staff.
7:49pm: Chelsea Zaragoza reported a possible Sexual Assault against her female juvenile friend had occurred in Jefferson sometime in the short past. The officer is working with DHS and starting an investigation into the reported event.
10:22pm: Marie Ratliff requested an officer at 2009 North Mulberry Street for a Civil Issue occurring with a vehicle.
10:48pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 501 South Vine Street.
