A renovation project that will extend the library’s closure is set to begin next week.

The library has been mostly closed to the public since mid-March amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Director Mary Murphy, the building will remain closed until the completion of the renovation in the fall. Murphy describes what the next few months will look like, “This is a planned renovation that we planned for over a year. We will continue our curbside service. It’s an eight-week renovation. We get new bathrooms, a new family bathroom, new carpet, new tile, and a new east entrance. We do have one computer over at the Carnegie that we’ll have open for a patron coming in with an appointment.”

Staff will be working out of the Carnegie Museum building during the project and will be able to continue their curbside services throughout the summer and early fall. Construction is set to begin next week and will be done in October.
