The Thomas Jefferson Gardens in Jefferson continues to add interactive features.

A third instrument was recently added to the Gardens as a playable pipe feature with rubber mallets. It is located in the children’s garden area on the south side of the Gardens. The instrument was made possible by a donation from Lois McAtee and family, in memory of several loved ones. This finishes an instrumental project that began in 2016 through a Jefferson Rotary Club grant, along with donations from the McAtees and Jacque and Jim Andrew. The project started with a contra brass chime set in 2016, followed by a xylophone in 2018.

The instruments are free and anyone of any skill level is encouraged to play them. Thomas Jefferson Gardens is a non-profit organization and is the home of the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center, which is utilized by Jefferson Matters: Main Street and the Jefferson Area Chamber of Commerce.
