The Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson is going to look quite a bit different thanks to COVID-19.
The festival was scheduled for this past June due to COVID-19 concerns, and has been pared down to a one day event on Saturday, August 29th. Event Chair Philip Heisterkamp says the “Bell Tower Block Party” will feature a mix of traditional aspects of the event and new ones, like several musical acts in the afternoon.
“We’ll start the musical lineup off with Hawk McIntyre. He and Jake Doty from Boone, they are a duo, and they’ll come over and play. Hawk McIntyre was just on The Voice this last season. Then after that Chad Elliott and the Redemptions, he’s performed in Greene County several times. And then our big act, and our final act for the day will be the Johnny Holm Band, an Iowa band who they’ve grown in popularity.”
Heisterkamp notes there are several “traditional” activities including the Jefferson Parks and Recreation 3-on-3 basketball tournaments and the Ding Dong Dash 3/5K run/walk. Additionally, there will be food and other vendors on hand, along with the Jefferson Rotary Club parade.
There will be awards given to the parade entries for the best commercial, non-commercial and theme. A copy of the parade entry form is available at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center in Jefferson, or online at the Bell Tower Festival Facebook page. Parade entries are due to the Welcome Center by no later than August 27th.
