For the second straight high school baseball season, Greene County opens district tournament play on the home field of a top 10 ranked team. Last year the Rams upset number eight Gilbert. Tonight, the task may be even tougher as number four Dallas Center-Grimes is the opponent at 7 p.m. in Dallas Center in the opening round of Class 3A District 15 baseball. Tonight’s winner moves on to Monday’s District title game vs. either Atlantic or Carroll.

The Mustangs are 14-3 on the season and boast a pitching staff with an earned run average just over two runs per game. The team batting average is over .300, and the defense averages only about one error per game.

Coach Matt Paulsen’s Rams are 3-11 after starting the COVID-19 abbreviated season with seven straight losses. Greene County closed the regular season on Monday of this week with an eight-inning win at Nevada by a 6-4 final.
