Steve Schlafke’s Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies Softball team begins its trek towards a State Tournament bid on Saturday with a Regional Semifinal match-up in Dallas Center on Saturday evening.

DC-G, now 17-9 on the season, is the top seed in the 6-team, Region 2 Bracket, and will face the winner of Perry and Gilbert who will square off tonight.

The Fillies are 0-2 on the week, but played well in both losses against 4A power, ADM, and 5A top-ranked West Des Moines Valley.

Earlier this week, Schlafke told Raccoon Valley Radio that facing two premiere opponents just before Regional play began is exactly what he wanted to prepare his team for postseason tournament play.

On the other side of the Region 2 Bracket, Ballard and Boone will play this evening with the winner advancing to play on Saturday evening at Webster City.
