The local cases of COVID-19 continued their recent upwards trend Saturday, as 36 new positive tests were confirmed in Dallas County along with one more in Guthrie.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, the latest surge in Dallas brings the total number of cases to 1,263 since the pandemic began, with 1,012 fully recovered and 29 deaths. Guthrie is now at 65 positive cases, with 58 patients recovered and four deaths. There was no change Saturday in either Greene or Adair counties, with the former currently at 29 cases with 21 recovered, and the latter at 15 cases and 12 recovered. As for the rest of Iowa, Saturday marked one of the biggest jumps in positive tests in around a month, with 566 new cases for a total of 30,923 to date. There was also one additional coronavirus-related death reported, for a statewide total of 721.
The IDPH also notes there have been 296,507 negative tests since March, and that 24,539 Iowans have fully recovered from the virus. Additionally, in Region 1 of the Regional Medical Coordination Centers Hospital Data – which includes all of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area – there are currently 46 hospitalized patients, with 15 in the Intensive Care Unit, and four admitted in the last 24 hours.
