Dallas County Hospital and Family Medicine Clinics in Perry continues to slowly lift restrictions on those allowed into the building, though there are still several safety measures in place related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hospital has been adding more visiting specialist services as the state has started to reopen, and has also slowly phased in more surgical options. Additionally, a few of the strict precautions for the public to follow before they’re admitted have been slightly rolled back. As of now, visitors will be allowed on a case-by-case basis, as opposed to being restricted to only guardians of patients under age 18. Also, the window for testing outpatient procedure patients has widened, with screenings now available 48-72 hours prior to the operation instead of 24 hours. However, the procedure may still be postponed if the patient tests positive for the virus.

Precautions that haven’t changed include: pre-appointment phone screenings for all patients; everyone entering the building must wear a mask before being screened for symptoms; and all DCH employees will be screened daily. DCH Chief Clinical Officer Cindy Peeler says the administration will continue adjusting the safety measures as it makes sense for them to do so, and ensures the public that they are taking every precaution to ensure the health of their workers and patients.
