A Perry man was taken into custody Wednesday morning on a warrant for a pair of felony charges related to an incident in March.
According to Dallas County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Adam Infante, deputies arrested 31-year-old Michael Jason Godwin on charges including attempted murder, a class B felony, and willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony. The charges stem from an altercation near Perry on the evening of March 2nd, where the suspect allegedly assaulted a victim in the face and head with a metal jack handle. The victim and witnesses identified Godwin, and detectives with the Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough investigation. Following dozens of interviews, collection of evidence, execution of search warrants, and positive lab results, the arrest warrant was issued and the suspect was apprehended Wednesday.
Godwin is currently being held in Dallas County Jail without bond ahead of his preliminary court appearance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
