"Voice of the Hawkeyes" Gary Dolphin was the emcee

Iowa Hawkeyes football and men’s basketball play-by-play announcer Gary Dolpin and former Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs football player Ed Podolak were the speakers at Monday’s Rotary Club of Jefferson meeting. The two have partnered up for 24 seasons of football radio broadcasts on the Hawkeye Sports Network.

Both are small town Iowa natives with Podolak from Atlantic and Dolphin from Cascade. Nearly a quarter century into his Hawkeyes gig, Dolpin spent at least that many years in small market radio. Although there is uncertainty about the upcoming football season, Dolphin has some encouraging words for fans, regardless of what team they root for. “I just want to tell everybody in Jefferson and Greene County, hang in there with the Hawks, hang in there with your favorite team, because we’re all going to get through this momentary, temporary downer.”
