Assuming all three scheduled Greene County varsity baseball games get played this week, head coach Matt Paulsen’s Rams will have played six games, five of those on the road to begin the season. After playing two of last weeks’ three games away from home, the Rams have a road trip tonight to Alleman to face North Polk, followed by PCM in Prairie City on Wednesday, and Roland-Story in Story City on Thursday to round out the week. The Rams have Friday and the weekend off.

Greene County is 0-3 and has scored only six runs in its first three games, losses to Saydel (Des Moines), South Hamilton (Jewell), and Gilbert. On the road, the Rams put up one run in a 2-1 loss at Saydel and one run in an 11-1 loss Friday in Gilbert by the 10-run rule in five innings. Of the 14 combined hits in those three games, 12 have been singles to go with two doubles.

The Comets are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in HOIAC action.
