The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Class of 2020 will have their long-awaited commencement ceremony this Saturday, getting the send-off that everyone wanted for them.

Due to the school year being cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the graduation event was thrown into question. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the students and families indicated their desire to have as traditional of a ceremony as possible, so the District did their best to accommodate that request. What they landed on was a morning event held at Tiger Stadium in late June. Commencement will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, and Dufoe notes that in order to maintain proper social distancing at the football field, attendees will need to follow certain guidelines.

“Each graduate will be able to bring six guests. We still need to limit the number of people that can attend due to the 50% facility capacity limit. We’ll of course follow all the safety guidelines that are in place for social distancing and that sort of thing. So we feel it’ll be really special to get our whole class together, with as many family as we can allow, and have a very special graduation that is as traditional as we can execute at this point in time.”
