The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.

The Board approved IMEG to commission the new high school and career academy project for $57,600, 21st Century Rehabilitation for sports medicine coverage for $7,000, New Opportunities agreements for Headstart in the classroom and food services as presented and spending $80,942 of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act funds for new Chromebooks, tablets and desktop computers. Additionally, the Board approved a change order reduction of $72,000 for the high school and career academy for over excavation and selling school property at 202 Briarwood Bend to Greene County High School head football coach Caden Duncan for $240,000.

The Board then discussed the Return to Learn plan for the District. Superintendent Tim Christensen said the plans aren’t finalized yet, but they are developing plans in case the District has to start the year via online, along with health and safety of students and staff, daily meetings with school nurses and constant communication with Greene County Public Health. The plan must be submitted to the Iowa Department of Education by July 1st.

Finally, Christensen talked about having the school board meetings be in-person and provided online for their July meeting and having the groups that are interested in the former middle school building and gym to present their ideas to the Board at that same meeting.
