After a 6-5 road win on Monday night in Des Moines vs. Saydel, the Greene County High School softball team seeks win number two tonight. The Rams host South Hamilton (Jewell) in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson. SH also opened its season on Monday with a 3-2 victory in Monroe over PCM.
The Rams will be looking to shore up the defense after allowing four unearned runs in the season opener. Freshman pitcher Emma Hoyle tossed a complete game two-hitter in defeating the Eagles. Senior Tieryn Tucker had two hits and two runs batted in to lead the offense.
SH rolled to a pair of 10-1 victories over Greene County in 2019, but six seniors were on that team including the top pitcher and some very good hitters.
Tonight’s varsity softball game will be broadcast on KG98 with coverage just after 7 p.m. The contest will also be streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
