The Guthrie Center School Board approved a fire alarm bid at their meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Dennis McClain explained that this bid was for the second phase of a project to update their system to meet the Fire Marshal’s code. The amount was $8,163 from Feld Fire of Carroll to be paid from Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) funds. The Board also approved the purchase of 30 virtual reality goggles to be shared with the Adair-Casey School District. The total cost was about $9,633 from Tierney Brothers, Inc. and shall also be paid with PPEL funds as well as those from a $6,000 gift the District has received. The Board also received a technology update, discussed the Iowa Association of School Boards’ legislative priorities, tabled setting meal prices until their July meeting, and held a closed session.
