Though the Perry Public Library continues to be closed due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, staff is still operating programs through their “Imagine Your Story” summer reading program.

The next event will be held this Monday, June 15th, and it’s geared for adults. The program involves a book folding craft with the theme of “HOPE.” Participants will be able to pick up a free kit curbside that includes instructions and supplies needed for the craft, which they can then do at home. Registration is required and can be done any time between now through normal business hours Monday by calling the library at 515-465-3569.

The second activity is also for adults and is being presented in partnership with Dallas County ISU Extension and Outreach. The program is titled “Is It Whole Grain?” and will include three separate sessions. Extension Human Sciences Specialist Mary Krisco will be the host, and she’ll take attendees through the process of making good food choices for themselves and their families. The themes and dates include: pancakes and fruit on June 23rd; making a grain bowl on July 14th; and flatbread pizza on July 28th. Each date is a Tuesday, and the free program will be held via Zoom video conferencing starting at 6:30 p.m. Materials can be picked up the day before each session, and registration must be done a week in advance. You can sign up by either calling the library, or visiting their website by clicking the link below.
