Perry Lutheran Homes was recently recognized as one of the dozen best facilities for memory care in the Des Moines area for 2020 by an independent nonprofit panel of experts.
The honor was bestowed by MemoryCare.com, which is a comprehensive resource for caregivers and older adults living with memory impairment, in order to help people find the support that best fits their needs. Twelve elder care facilities in central Iowa received the award, and PLH CEO Reverend Max Phillips expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He said in a statement, “It’s truly an honor and reflection of the uniqueness, innovativeness and quality care received at Perry Lutheran Homes memory care communities.”
PLH offers early stage memory loss assisted living at their Spring Valley Campus, as well as mid-stage to advanced dementia care at their St. James and St. John’s neighborhoods located at the Willis Avenue Campus. According to MemoryCare.com, the words most used by residents and families to describe their experience at PLH include caring, compassion, innovation, and excellence. They were also credited as pioneers for the “Music and Memory” program that is now frequently used in memory units around the nation, as well as for the Acorns and Oaks intergenerational daycare.
