The Guthrie Center City Council approved opening the municipal pool for lap swimming and lessons June 15th.

The City is abiding by the state’s current restrictions, and if restrictions are lifted by June 18th the pool will open to the general public. The Council also decided at their recent meeting that all 2020 season passes will be refunded, and a new schedule and fees have been established by the Parks and Recreation Board. Private lessons will be offered by current certified aquatic center staff, and patrons are also permitted to bring their own lounge chairs due to COVID-19.

The Council also approved the purchase of a backhoe for $72,200, which will be split with the Utility Board. They also continued discussion on library staff time cards and vacation/sick leave accruals, and asked that the library provide these details to the Council by June 22nd. The Council also plans to hold a citywide cleanup, and the details and date are to be determined.
