Guthrie County Conservation is opening all its camping sites to the public tomorrow.
Beginning at 8 a.m., all camping sites, and shelter houses at Nations Bridge and Lenon Mill parks will be opened to all camping units. At Nations Bridge the pit latrines, shower house, and one of its restrooms located by the dump station will be opened, and at Lenon Mill the playground equipment and restroom will be open. Conservation Director Brad Halterman says new rules will be posted at the shower house at Nations Bridge, “We’re going to open the shower house to one person per side, meaning one person for the male side and one person for the female side. Of course parents can accompany their children into the showerhouse. We’re asking folks that if your side is occupied, to please wait outside until it opens up and just respect the new social distancing requirements for that.”
No reservations will be accepted at this time for the shelter houses as they will open on a first come, first served basis. Halterman says the staff will be increasing their cleaning of the restroom and shower house facilities from twice a week to once daily at minimum. He thanks campers for their cooperation the last several weeks as the County has gradually reopened the campgrounds in order to protect staff and visitors from the risk of COVID-19 exposure.
