As the spread of COVID-19 continues throughout Iowa, the State is making it easier for residents living in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area to get tested.
The TestIowa program has expanded to five new testing sites, including two that will be much shorter drives for people in Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie counties. There is now a site in Waukee where people can sign up to get a drive-through coronavirus test conducted, and later this week another site will open in Carroll. Prior to these sites opening, the closest locations were downtown Des Moines or Denison. The Waukee location is at South Middle School, located at 2350 SE LA Grant Parkway, and is open seven days a week from noon-6 p.m. The Carroll site will be at St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital, located at 311 South Clark Street, and will be available starting Wednesday. The other new sites include Crawford, Page, and Union counties.
Dallas County Health Department Health Navigator Ann Cochran notes that you must first fill out the online assessment with TestIowa, and they will advise you on whether or not you should get tested. However, Cochran says regardless of what the results recommend, at this point anyone can be tested for COVID-19. “I would like to encourage everyone, if you haven’t yet been tested, it’s open to anyone now. It’s free, there’s no reason to not do it. Just go to (the) TestIowa website, and it’s a very short little form, and then you will be directed to how you can go get tested.”
