A group of Greene County residents have organized a peaceful protest later this week.

The peaceful protest will take place at noon on Tuesday starting at the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson. Organizers say the protest is an opportunity for people to support the African American community and their allies, following the killing of George Floyd.

Anyone who would like to join the protest may do so and can bring signs, although signs will be provided to those who want one. People will then walk along the sidewalk carrying signs or they can just stand or sit in their chair around the courthouse. Participants are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing guidelines.
