Five fire departments responded to a semi truck trailer on fire at the Kum and Go gas station in Adair Friday morning.

According to the Adair Fire Department, they were paged to the fire at about 2:45 a.m. when a diesel/gas pump was taken out by the rear of a semi trailer causing electrical wires to spark and ignite. The Kum and Go employees were able to act quickly and perform the emergency shutdown, which helped tremendously according to the department. They were on scene within a few minutes and quickly knocked down the fire, preventing it from reaching any buildings. As the department had low water pressure due to water tower maintenance, area fire departments hauled water in. No injuries were reported. The Anita, Casey, Greenfield, and Stuart fire departments assisted at the scene, as well as Adair County Ambulance and Sheriff’s Office, Adair Police Department, and Richter and Son Towing.
