*** The drinking water was lifted on June 7th, 2020***
A drinking water advisory has been issued for the City of Bayard Thursday afternoon.
The Bayard Water Supply is recommending to boil water before using for drinking and cooking or to use an alternative source. This also applies to making ice, and brushing teeth. Water Superintendent Cole Richards says there was a problem in the distribution system and a small portion of the system lost pressure around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The system has been repaired, repressurized, and bacteria samples are being collected. The City is working with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to resolve the situation.
When water service is restored, there may be air in your water piping causing the water to be discolored. Residents are recommended to first run water from a faucet that doesn’t have an aerator screen, such as a bathtub or hose bib, and to open the faucet slowly to allow the air to escape. Once the water is flowing, allow the faucet to run until it is clear. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
