The unofficial Greene County results are in for the June Primary Election.
While there were no locally contested races for County Auditor, Sheriff, and three Supervisor seats, Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District and Iowa Senate District 24 seats were contested. There were five Republicans running for the Fourth Congressional District seat and even though Steve King won Greene County, he lost the primary to challenger Randy Feenstra, who received over 45-percent of the votes across the district to King’s 35-percent. Democrat J.D. Scholten was uncontested and received 626 of the 629 Greene County votes.
As for Iowa Senate District 24, four Republicans and two Democrats were running. Republican Jesse Green not only won Greene County, but he also won the nomination with just over 40-percent of the votes to runner-up Chad Behn with 31-percent. Democrat Cynthia Paschen won Greene County with 380 votes to Keith Puntenney’s 179 votes, and she won the nomination by grabbing 66-percent of the votes across the district to Puntenney’s 32-percent.
