The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began with approval of a change order from CL Carroll and Company for the Ortonville Lagoon demolition project, for a net deduction of $43,148. The Board also approved the first pay application for the project of $79,825.65. Following that, they approved the 28th pay application for the law enforcement center project, in the amount of $171,585.14 to six contractors. They were also updated on the progress of construction, which is nearing completion.
Next, the Supervisors got an update on Secondary Roads Department spring projects, and had discussion but no action on the City of West Des Moines’ Sugar Creek stabilization project. They then had a heated discussion on a 28E agreement with the Central Iowa Workforce Development, Region 11. Supervisors Kim Chapman and Brad Golightly didn’t trust the organization or the wording in the documents, so the Board took no action. Supervisor Mark Hanson criticised the inaction as “short-sighted,” and pointed out that 98 other counties in Iowa have signed similar agreements. The item will be brought back at the next meeting. Finally, they approved a resolution supporting federal grant applications by the City of Perry for the Perry Municipal Airport runway extension project. The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss pending litigation.
