The Greene County Medical Center has announced changes to visitor restrictions for some departments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials say one companion or support person is allowed with a patient in the emergency room, surgery, clinics, outpatient chemotherapy and obstetric ultrasound departments. The support person must be free of any signs of illness and should not be at high risk for severe disease, they must be screened by medical center personnel when entering the facility, remain in the patient room as appropriate, wear a face mask, practice hand hygiene when entering and exiting the patient room and practice social distance guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control. Additionally, siblings who are under 18 are not allowed with the patient.

The medical center is continuing to not allow any visitors in the acute care or long term care departments at this time. These decisions have been made to continue to provide a family-centered care environment while also keeping the safety and protection of the patients and staff at this time.
