As the city parks in Jefferson have opened to the public again, Greene County Public Health has some reminders for people to prevent the continued spread of COVID-19.

Public Health Director Becky Wolf says when using playground equipment to make sure to wash your hands before and after leaving the park; avoid gatherings of more than ten people; ensure your child keeps a six foot distance from other children and if they can’t they should wear a face mask; remind kids to cough or sneeze into their elbow; and keep them home if they feel sick. Wolf asks everyone to be vigilant about preventing the spread of the virus, but also enjoy the outdoors when you can.

“It’s good for your mental health to get out. It’s wonderful weather now that spring is on board. But we’ve just got to keep doing the practices that we’ve been doing even though our restrictions have been lessened and lightened. We still need to be smart about things.”

Starting today, all of the city parks in Jefferson, as well as the skating park, are open including playground equipment, shelter houses and public restrooms.
