At their most recent meeting, the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board approved a contract with Dykstra Concrete for a summer sidewalk repaving project.

Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the bid from Dykstra came in at $119,978.70, which was well within their budget. Dufoe outlines the scope of the project, as well as its necessity. “We have some issues at some of our entrances at the high school and middle school, and some stairways that just need to be torn out and replaced. We have had settling and you know some unsafe zones that we need to address. So even at the middle school, you know that addition was completed in 2006, so some of the concrete is pushing 15-years-old. So it’s just a fairly large concrete improvement that we feel is necessary this year, so we’re excited to be able to get that done this summer.”

In addition to the reconstruction of the entrances and stairways, Dufoe says the District is also taking advantage of the opportunity to have the contractor pour the pad for the tiger statue, which will be installed this summer.
