The Stuart Chamber of Commerce met yesterday for its December session.
Treasurer Shannon Behnken began the meeting by discussing the Chamber’s financials to this point in the calendar year. The Chamber had a net income of over $1,700 in the month of November, and as of November 30th, the organization’s year-end balance sits at about $7,300.
Members of the Stuart Lions Club then spoke to discuss their organization’s Christmas celebration in town. That will be held on Saturday, December 14th at the Freedom for Youth Center beginning at 11:30am. Free will offerings for the soup meal will be accepted.
Next, Jeff Schwartzkopf spoke to give an update on the progress of “Light the Park.” He says lightbulbs for the display have been ordered but are not in yet. It is unlikely “Light the Park” will take shape this winter season, but with news bulbs on the way, the Chamber hopes to have it back in town next year.
The Chamber set its annual dinner date for February 20th of next year. Members are hoping to have it at Stuart’s Saints Center.
Lynsi Pasutti then gave one final recap of Small Business Saturday from this past weekend. Pasutti mentioned two possible improvements for the event in the future, one being the incorporation of maps to help visitors that are not from Stuart better navigate town. The other possible change for next year could be scheduling more cohesive hours from business to business.
Finally, a tentative ribbon-cutting date was set for Los Altos, the new mexican restaurant in Stuart. That will be on Thursday, December 19th.
The Chamber will convene for its next meeting on Wednesday, January 8th.
