Greene County High School freshman wrestler McKinley Robbins has been  making the long drive from his rural Greene County home to Mason City, and more recently Ames, to train with the Sebolt Wrestling Academy at rented facilities. Recently, it was made public the Academy has purchased the former Fieldhouse in Jefferson and will now make its home here. Robbins told Raccoon Valley Radio his reaction. “It’s really exciting knowing we have our own place now. I think it’s going to be really good for the program in general, because once you kind of establish that “home” it even makes it that much more special.”

Robbins talked about the shorter drive he and seventh grader Brent Dennhardt, who also trains with Sebolt, will have to make. “It’ll be really nice going from a two hour drive to 15  minutes. All around you just listen to the parents of the club and we’re all excited for this new change.”

About 70 youngsters grade three through high school age train with Sebolt Wrestling Academy. TJ Sebolt, a four-time Iowa high school State Champion from Centerville, will be moving with his wife and daughters to Jefferson. Sebolt told Raccoon Valley Radio he hopes that’s sooner than later, but first they’ll need to sell their home north of Mason City. He added some improvements to the Jefferson facility are planned, which include adding air conditioning.
