Next week, residents of Perry and Adel and those in the surrounding areas in need of food assistance are invited to take part in an emergency mobile food pantry stop.

The program is being spearheaded by Dallas County Hospital and Family Medicine Clinics, as well as Raccoon Valley Bank and several other community partners. The pantry will be available Wednesday, May 20th in the DCH north parking lot in Perry, and then again on Thursday, May 21st at the Raccoon Valley Bank location in Adel. The service will begin at 5 p.m. each night, and will go until the food runs out. Organizers point out that food will be given to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis with no cost or questions asked. There will also be information on how to acquire additional food assistance.

Volunteers handing out the food will be practicing social distancing and following safety guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as far as personal protective equipment use. Patrons will need to stay in the vehicles the whole time, and are asked to follow directions for traffic flow from volunteers upon entering the site. Additionally, the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will be on hand for both events. We will broadcast live, play music, and provide public address services. Anyone with questions about the emergency mobile food pantries is encouraged to reach out to Dallas County Hospital at 515-465-3547.
