The wheels have begun to turn on the next big project for the Perry School District: the renovation of the middle school building.
Superintendent Clark Wicks says the facility is several decades old and in dire need of multiple improvements. To highlight that point, he says one of the most difficult aspects of the project will be deciding what’s most critically in need of renovation. “I think that the Board will have the vision of making sure the electrical and some of those kind of foundational items are in place, as well as larger classrooms and sprucing up the entrance. I think those will be probably our main focus. There is a whole litany of different things that we could do, but like all of us we’re limited to the money that we have, so we want to invest it very wisely.”
The District is currently in the design phase of the project, and initial plans and specifications could be brought to the School Board for approval as early as this summer. Wicks is hopeful the renovation will be completed by the start of the 2021-22 school year.
