Crews are still working to repair a gas leak in downtown Stuart Wednesday night.

Stuart Public Works Director Jim Henderson tells Raccoon Valley Radio an outside contractor ruptured a gas line in the alley south of Northeast 2nd Street at about 4:55 p.m. Stuart Fire and Rescue blocked traffic off from the area, but both agencies were allowed to leave the scene by about 10 p.m. MidAmerican Energy is expected to work through the night on the repairs.
