Sebolt Wrestling Academy will be moving to Jefferson in the former Fieldhouse building on Chestnut St. a block south of the square. TJ Sebolt will be moving his family here and he will operate from the same wrestling room the Greene County Rams have called home for the last several years. The Greene County middle and high school teams will practice at the current high school/future middle school after part of the industrial tech area is transformed into a wrestling room.

Sebolt told Raccoon Valley Radio the Sebolt Wrestling Academy started in 2011. “It’s been a goal to own a building. We’ve rented space in Mason City and Ames. I’ve been looking for a long time. Mike Dennhardt and Justin Robbins made me aware of this opportunity and told me I needed to take a look. When I did, it was perfect! The situation was perfect. It’s still centralized enough only being an hour from Des Moines and less than that from Ames. Having our own facility is something the kids can really take pride in.”

Currently, about 70 student-athletes train at Sebolt Wrestling Academy. The elite program is open to all wrestlers third grade and older. The Academy’s goal is to turn athletes into Master Technicians.

Seboldt is a four-time Iowa High School State Champion from 2003-2006 at Centerville with a high school career record of 207-1. McKinley Robbins and Brent Dennhardt are two Greene County wrestlers that have trained with Sebolt for some time. Robbins won an AAU State title in 2019 as an eighth grader and was a Class 2A State Tournament runner-up in Feb. at 106 lbs. for the Rams. Dennhardt is currently a Greene County seventh grader who has three AAU State titles to his name.
