While Governor Kim Reynolds’ (R) response to the COVID-19 pandemic has created mixed reactions from Iowans, State House District 20 Representative Ray Sorensen (R) has thrown his support behind her actions.
The legislator representing Adair, Guthrie, and portions of Cass and Dallas counties tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it’s not an easy job to make life-impacting decisions for over 3 million people, and he thinks Reynolds has done a good job of handling the pandemic thus far. Sorensen says Iowans have wide-ranging opinions on the health crisis, but he says there’s something he’d like to remind them, “No matter how informed you think you are, do you really believe that you have access to more information than our Governor and our President, you know? I get it, people are heated, they’re lives are being directly impacted. There is no magic wand to fix what the pandemic has done, whether you believe it’s a hoax or whether you believe we need to lock down further.”
Governor Reynolds is one of the few in the nation that did not issue a stay-at-home order during the pandemic, and her most recent proclamation which lifted restrictions for dental services, camping, and other businesses is set to expire this Friday.
