The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began with approval of the County’s health insurance plan renewal, which was discussed at length at the previous meeting. The Supervisors approved voluntary short term disability, $1,500 in dental coverage, and $75,000 for stop loss coverage, which were the items they wanted more time to consider last week. Following that, the Board approved the abatement of real estate taxes for an abandoned property now owned by the City of Dexter, as well as the applications for business property tax credit allowances. Next, they approved the first payment for the new courtroom project at the courthouse in the amount of $20,325.28 to Lejas Corporation.
The Supervisors then had a discussion on inspection proposals for the exterior of the courthouse, considering two separate companies for the work. They decided to go with Keffer-Overton Architects, despite them having the higher of the two prices at $36,478 total. Other items approved included: the automatic door bid of $3,875 from Automatic Door Group, Inc for the Auditor’s Office; an application for a $10,500 Vote Safe Iowa grant; and the final pay application from Harney Commercial Services for the 910 Court Street in Adel project, in the amount of $46,398.50. The Board also gave consensus to obtain quotes for the 918 Court Street water line repair project. The meeting concluded with a workshop on their public building health and safety policy.
