An Adel man has pleaded guilty in federal court for his part in a drug trafficking scheme that included 13 other individuals from Iowa and Minnesota.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice for the Southern District of Iowa, 22-year-old Kasey Lee Cassady was charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, both federal felonies. He was indicted for his involvement in an armed drug trafficking and money laundering ring executed out of Des Moines. He reportedly supplied cocaine to be sold in the Des Moines metro by 23-year-old Robert William Lampe of Des Moines, and 20-year-old Mason Leroy Snyder of Waukee. He was arrested following an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with aid from the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the St. Paul, Minnesota Police Department.
Lampe and Snyder have already been sentenced to 73 months and 120 months in prison, respectively, for their part in the scheme. Cassady will be sentenced on July 16th, one of the last two perpetrators to receive judgement. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
