Greene and Boone County Habitat for Humanity will be hosting its annual nativity fundraising event this Sunday in Jefferson.
Organizer Kathy Walker says the holiday fundraiser will be at the St. Joseph’s Parish Center on Sunday, December 8th beginning at noon with a soup luncheon and a nativity scene silent auction. Everyone is encouraged to either put their nativity scene on display for viewing or donate their nativity to be auctioned off.
Then at 1:30pm will be a pie auction followed by a community holiday concert in the church at 2:30pm. She notes that a freewill donation will be accepted for the meal and concert.
Walker adds that all the proceeds will go to the local Habitat for Humanity chapter of Greene County. She points out that last year, they had 75 nativity scenes on display and auctioned off and raised about $200.
Also during the Sunday event, Nicole Friess-Schilling and her family will be bringing the nativity scene to life with live animals, authentic costumes and real people portraying the time-honored scene.
To register your nativity scene, contact Walker at M&M Applique at 386-3945 or at her home at 386-8259. You can also bring your nativity scene to the parish center on Saturday from 3-6pm to set it up for the event on Sunday.
