The Centers for Disease Control recently came out with additional symptoms that are associated with COVID-19.

Greene County Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Line says the CDC added six new symptoms of the virus, including chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell. However, he says the core symptoms of the virus are: dry cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and a fever.

Additionally, Dr. Line points out an issue about a recent report from the World Health Organization about there not being definitive proof that individuals who have recovered from the virus and developed antibodies would be protected from getting the virus again. He says that information is misleading, “And how it should be interpreted is that there’s no definitive proof yet. The infection is new and there’s not been enough time to prove that COVID(-19) antibodies prevent a second infection.”

Dr. Line says people who have been infected with the virus and have recovered have developed antibodies and with more time to study it properly, he hopes this will be proven true. Dr. Line does recommend if anyone feels like they have symptoms of the virus to contact their physician or the emergency room of the hospital for proper guidance on the next steps.
