A regional, farmer-owned cooperative recently made a financial donation toward a program that connects pig farmers to less fortunate Iowans.
Landus Cooperative donated $20,000 to the “Pass the Pork” initiative. Through the program, Iowa pork producers are donating pigs to the Iowa Food Bank Association and other food bank programs. However, there are still costs to process, store and deliver the pork to these locations. Landus Cooperative is utilizing matching funds from Land O’ Lakes Foundation to assist with these expenses.
The initiative was created by Governor Kim Reynolds’ Feeding Iowans Task Force in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Anyone can donate to the cause by clicking the link below.
