The best way to curb the community spread of COVID-19 when out in public is to wear face masks, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry is offering protective coverings in a new fundraiser.

The masks feature the St. Pat’s Catholic School logo, and can be purchased this weekend for $10 each. Father Luis Mejia will be selling the coverings himself, starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. People can get them right from their vehicle by driving past the church on Lucinda Street during those times, so there will be minimal contact. Cash or check will be accepted, with checks to be made out to St. Patrick Church. Masks will also be available in the church office for those needing to arrange another pickup time.

All proceeds from the mask sales will benefit the Annual Diocesan Appeal. The program provides additional funding to each parish in the Des Moines Diocese, which is used to support the local communities and individuals in need.
