The Perry Youth Football program has had to make some changes to the registration process as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but as of now the league is still on for this fall.
Organizers were planning to send sign-up forms home through the school mail, but with the closure for the remainder of the school year they had to find other ways to reach families about participating. Coach Matt Hardy says the best way to register now is online, but parents can also request paper forms by emailing BluejayYouthFootball@gmail.com. Additionally, the registration deadline was supposed to be today, but in order to ensure as many students can take part as possible, the window has been left open indefinitely. Hardy says they realized that money is tight right now for a lot of families dealing with coronavirus closures, and they didn’t want any interested players to miss the opportunity because they couldn’t afford it.
The organization can also provide assistance for low-income families, and anyone with concerns about the entry fee is encouraged to reach out to Hardy at 515-341-2630 or by emailing the above address. The cost is $60 per player for 3rd grade, and $100 each for 4th-6th graders. There is also a 15% discount for families with multiple participants. If the pandemic persists into the fall and the program is cancelled, all fees will be refunded. For more information on Perry Youth Football, click the link below to visit their official website.
